GRANT GOAL:  Each teacher will participate on a learning team to study and implement the key components of a standards led

classroom. (SAC) The goal of teaching to the Illinois Learning Standards is improved student achievement and for teachers a

confidence in understanding the Illinois Learning Standards and aligning classroom assessments to intentional learning targets

as indicated by data.

SAC One Day Training (1 day –) to receive training on the key components of SAC.

 

Weekly Learning Team Meetings - Learning Teams will meet with the SAC coach weekly for one period for the first six weeks.

 

Bi-monthly Learning Meetings -Teams will meet twice monthly following the initial six week implementation.

 

Quarterly Content Meetings - Meet vertically at least 4 times to share content information across the grades.

 

Facilitation – Facilitator roles will be shared among the team members (team log, etc)

 

Content for Meetings - Learning teams will follow the suggested SAC School-wide Step by Step Implementation Model and use

 

the effective meeting process. (CEC model)

Entry point for implementation - Each school team’s entry point/readiness level will be determined by the team members and the coach.

Expectations for implementation - All teachers will implement the suggested SAC strategies in the classroom.

 

Accountability - Accountability practices/procedures will be developed by the coach and the learning teams. The implementation 

process, including successes and challenges, will be discussed for each of the targeted classroom implementation components.

 

Peer observation – team members will support each other through peer observation and discussion of successes and challenges.

 

Data - Participate in program evaluation process if applicable.

 

 

In addition to full participation in the above professional development, each teacher:

 

·   Will complete a “pre” and “post” survey prior to September 1, 2008  and  June 1, 2009.

·   Will receive support and resources to support their learning and the classroom implementation.

·   Will have the opportunity to earn 3 hours of graduate credit from Aurora University for $235 plus $30 for Stiggins’Text

·   Will have the opportunity to participate in a SAC Spring Celebration

 

 

I understand that to be successful in this professional development opportunity, I will need to clearly

communicate the learning targets, create a learning environment for students that supports student

involvement in assessment and the monitoring of their own progress, develop lessons and assessments

aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards and be open to utilizing authentic connections for teaching
